Our Mission
Starting Strong is the community working together to ensure children in Portland, Maine read by the end of third grade. We focus on creating opportunities so that all children, from birth through age 8, will be ready for school, reading on grade level, and prepared for academic success.
Our Work
Portland Works for Kids is a community-wide effort with dozens of partners working together to make high-quality early childhood care and education affordable and accessible to everyone. We are working together across sectors to advocate for short- and long-term changes that make this goal achievable.
